No manufacturer builds a car like this anymore. The M Coupe is a sports car in its truest sense- it gives up almost nothing to luxury. It is purpose built. It is unapologetically light, fast and stiff.
With only 1,815 of the fixed head coupe built for the North American market over a three year period, this car is definitively rare. The fact that this model doesn’t command a higher price currently is largely owing to the fact that it is not well known and was never marketed. That will undoubtedly change as the market for unique performance cars continues to grow and strengthen.
At about 3200 lbs and with 330 normally aspirated hp, the power to weight ratio of the car is enviable. Its extremely low center of gravity and aggressive suspension provide almost zero body roll, even during the most aggressive cornering. It sticks to the pavement like a magnet. If you’ve driven a go kart, you have some sense of what it feels like.
This particular M Coupe has about 49k miles and is bone stock. The car has always been garaged and meticulously maintained. I am the second owner, having purchased it in 2008 with about 9k miles after it having been a BMW exec car. The rear tires are about 15%, so will need replacing soon but the fronts are probably 70%. Car has about 5oo miles since last oil change in April of 2015.
